Dr. Gilmore has been practicing optometry at Parsons, since July 1, 1999. He was born and raised in Pittsburg, Kansas. He graduated from St. Mary’s -Colgan High School in 1989, and Pittsburg State University with a degree in Biology in 1993
After graduating from the University of Missouri – St. Louis College of Optometry in 1998, he began a one-year residency at the Kansas City Veteran’s Hospital. The areas of emphasis of his residency were an ocular disease, with special attention to glaucoma and low vision rehabilitation. He also received additional training in diabetic eye disease management.
A Fellow of the America Academy of Optometry, Dr. Gilmore enjoys seeing patients of all ages, with all eye problems. Contact lenses and vision therapy are two additional areas of interest for him.
When away from the office, Dr. Gilmore enjoys running, and can often be seen running through the streets of Parsons. Dr. Gilmore is married with four children: twin sons, Luke and Zachary, and two daughters, Bridgette and Avery. His wife, Tracy, is originally from Erie and is a local pharmacist.
Dr. Newland, a Parsons native, joined his father, Dale, in the Parsons practice in 1990. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Kansas. In 1990, Dr. Newland graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry. In 1999, Dale Newland retired and Drs. Bartholomew, Gilmore & Newland opened Eyecare Associates of Parsons.
Dr. Newland enjoys caring for patients of all ages and is especially privledged to exam grandkids of some of his first patients. He is past Secretary-Treasurer for the Kansas Optometric Association and Board Member of the State Board of Examiners in Optometry. In 2022, Dr. Newland was selected,by his peers, as the Optometrist of the Year in Kansas.
Dr. Newland's wife, Leah, is also a Parsons native and a retired Occupational Therapist. They have two grown children, Rachel, who is an Optometrist in Kansas City and Max, an Actuary in San Antonio. Dr. Newland enjoys most sports, especially the Jayhawks and Chiefs, but he favorite pastime is playing golf.
Dr. Ray grew up in Arkansas and graduated from Clarksville High School in 1992. She then attended Arkansas Tech University and graduated with her Bachelor degree in Biology in 1996.
In 2000, Dr. Ray graduated from Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry. She then elected to complete a residency in Cornea and Contact Lens Services. During this time, she specialized in performing challenging contact lens fits for various eye conditions. She also gained additional training in ocular disease management.
Dr. Ray is married to David, who was raised in Parsons, and they have two children, Sadie and Collin. When not at work, Dr. Ray enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
